How could I write about books without writing about THE book of the moment ? Colleen Hoover really did something with this book. Though I won't argue that social media have played a great part in her success this year, it is impossible to deny that she has a talent for writing novels destined to be best sellers. 

Since I started this blog, I don't think I have talked about a book that contains such a heavy story yet is so easy to read. Because behind the haze of a dreamy love story, this novel is actually not about love at all. It approaches societal problems directly based on patriarchy and sexism, still too rooted in our social constructions. It approaches toxic affection and affective dependence. It approaches the daily life of still way too many women around the world. 

It lightens a universal problem. 

This novel isn't just a book, it's a cry from the heart of every woman on this planet, that resonated like 'WE HAD ENOUGH'. The sincerity of this scream is undeniable and easily understood with the background story of Colleen Hoover. She depicts domestic violence in a manner that never was envisaged before, a manner we needed. 

This book, popularized this year through social media, is here to remind us to act, do something, and not be passive. This book is here to demonstrate that yes, abusive relationships can start with pretended love. No, it's not always all black and white, because life is an eternal ocean of gray. This book is also here to prove there's always hope, even in the deepest ocean : if you try and learn to swim, you'll make it to the shore. 

With this book, Colleen Hoover wrote a hymn to protestation, a hymn to fight, a hymn to life.
